What Happened at the Hearing
Dr. Andrea Holmes testified at the hearing and was featured in local news coverage discussing the scientific, consumer, and regulatory considerations surrounding the proposed regulations.
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture recently held a public hearing regarding proposed regulations that would label food and beverages containing any amount of THC as adulterated.
According to 10/11 News, the proposed rules could affect products including gummies, beverages, and oral tinctures.
By the close of the public comment period:
- 496 comments were submitted in opposition
- 15 individuals testified in person in opposition
- 2 comments were submitted in support
- No one testified in person in support
Why This Matters
Many Nebraskans use hemp-derived products as part of their daily wellness routines.
For many customers, this issue is not political. It is personal.
These products are used by adults, seniors, caregivers, veterans, and families across Nebraska who want access to safe, tested, clearly labeled products.
What Happens Next
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture will review the submitted comments and hearing testimony before deciding whether to make changes to the proposed regulations.
If the regulations move forward, they would then proceed through additional review before final approval.
