The sleep-wake cycle is complex and made up by the circadian and homeostatic processes. Due to its complexity, it can be affected by a variety of actions. Both anandamide (a cannabinoid produced in the bodies of vertebrates) and the CB1 receptors in the endocannabinoid system are associated with regulating sleep. Many companies took note of this and began formulating CBD products such as gummies and capsules that have additional ingredients in them known for promoting sleep. Some of these ingredients include chamomile, melatonin, and linalool (a terpene present in lavender).
